Wow-what a productive session

We had a great time today beginning to measure each other to get data for our statistical investigation.
JF said he enjoyed measuring everyone
TT liked measuring the circumference of people's heads
DW liked measuring people's ankles

I enjoyed watching the children working cooperatively and excited about their learning.

tomorrow it is the exciting world of stem and leaf graphs. Can't wait!

Statistics- Creating the average student

Today we began a statistical investigation to create the 'average' student for our class.
We have brainstormed a variety of variables that we could measure. Here is a list of them
face length - from chin to hair line
face width - ear to ear
length of hand- tips of fingers to wrist
mouth - edge to edge smiling
legs- hip to ankle
shoulders- shoulder to shoulder or shoulder to neck
eye width
waist measurement
finger length
back- from bottom to shoulder
ear length
head circumference
hair length
thigh width
elbows to wrist
knee cap length
arm length
pectoral mucsle
nose - width
body height
neck circumference
weight
neck height
eye brow width
upper body - neck to belly button
thigh length
puku

One question we don't know how to answer is - How do we find an 'average' skin colour? How do we measure skin colour?
